Baie de l'Ours Cottage

Is a 6-meter overhang using a wooden frame possible? For the structural engineer, it's always the same answer. If the architect plans for a sufficient depth of framework, and if the cost of the frame respects the project budget, yes it is possible. For the project to build a chalet planned in Baie de l'Ours (Saint-Donat), all the stars were aligned to allow us to design a spectacular 900mm deep glulam wooden frame with cantilevers 6 meters long. Looking at the photos of the project, one might wonder how it holds up. The position and the minimum quantity of columns to support the project's roof frame were closely coordinated with the project architect. The result: a massive wooden frame that seems to float in the sky.
