Native Women's Shelter
Sustainable structure designed to promote collaborative learning

Building a reinforced concrete building, behind a heritage facade that must be preserved, represents a challenge in itself. This challenge becomes all the more complex when the ground under this facade is contaminated to a depth greater than that of the foundations of this facade. As part of the Foyer des Femmes Autochtones project, the engineering team had to anticipate these constraints from the very first design phases. Rigorous coordination and the development of precise construction details were essential to ensure the stability of the existing facade while allowing the safe excavation and construction of the new foundations.
