Water drop — Rosemont Hospital

“Water drops”, by Linda Covit, is located in the gardens of Hôpital Maisonneuve Rosemont, near the dialysis pavilion. The interior garden where the work is located is surrounded on 2 sides by the hospital building, on a 3rd side by a glass corridor, and open on the 4th side. Several factors contributed to the development of the sculpture: the long duration of the dialysis patients, looking out the window, the hospital's objective to create a warm, calm and serene atmosphere, the numerous views of the garden. The numerous and recurring visits to the garden by patients, visitors and staff members, as well as the density of adjacent landscaping. All resulting in this light and transparent work.
The sculpture consists of 5/8” diameter stainless steel tubes, linked together at the top. Everything is anchored in a reinforced concrete base protected against the effects of frost with insulation.
This work is the recipient of the international CODA award 2022, in the “Health” category. This competition rewards projects successfully integrating art into public and/or private, indoor and/or outdoor spaces.
