Hydrospheres — Alexandra Pier

Three semi-transparent structures are positioned on the site of the work of art, suggesting drops of water with spherical shapes that are temporarily compressed, as soon as they reach the pier. The three sculptures are made of 3/4” curved stainless steel tubes, welded to a base ring, anchored to the concrete. The rigidity of such structures had to be analyzed closely in order to give it adequate rigidity, without affecting the lightness of the work.
This work is the recipient of the international CODA award 2025, in the “Civic Spaces” category. This competition rewards projects successfully integrating art into public and/or private, indoor and/or outdoor spaces.
